What is Ketosis? 

Ketosis is a completely normal metabolic process. It begins after about 3-4 days when the body doesn’t have enough glucose (carbohydrates) for energy, and it begins to burn stored fats for energy instead. When it happens, ketones build up in the body. With the Ideal Protein Protocol and being monitored by a professional, your ketones will remain at a safe level. ketosis is usually encouraged by a low-carb diet, or a simply ketogenic diet.

 

What is a Ketogenic Diet Like? 

A ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carb and moderate-protein died that kicks your body into ketosis so it can burn stored fat, rather than carbs. This results and safe and consistent weight loss. The Three Phases of the Ideal Protein Protocol

Phase 1: Weight Loss

The Weight Loss Phase is designed to limit the intake of carbohydrates and maximize fat loss through a process called “ketosis”. When there are no carbohydrates to burn, the body goes into ketosis – a safe and natural state in which the body burns stored fat as an alternative source of energy. You’ll actively stay in Phase 1 until you lose the weight you desire.

Phase 2: Stabilization

Reset your MIND to maintain a healthy weight and build sustainable habits.

After weight loss, especially significant weight loss, the body will fight the change by trying to regain that lost weight. This is known as an “energy gap” where the body desires more calories than it actually needs, making weight loss difficult to maintain. In this phase, stabilization narrows this gap with a smart and intentional adjustment of protein, fat and carb intake. This optimal combination manages hunger, promotes better satiety and maintains the lost weight. Over the course of two months or whenever necessary, weekly follow-up sessions ensure that carbs are reintroduced wisely and weight is effectively tracked.

For the first 12 months after the Stabilization Phase, your coach and clinic will continue to provide you with educational content and support. Throughout this time, we recommend that you regularly check-in with your coach to voice your concerns, track maintenance and ensure you remain motivated to stay on track.
